Virtually Pain- Free Anesthetic Delivery
Patient comfort is one of our primary concerns, so we are proud to have integrated the CompuDent WAND® into our practice. The WAND® is a computerized local anesthesia delivery unit that greatly relieves the anxiety and discomfort of a traditional dental shot.
Injections can hurt for a number of reasons, but most of the discomfort from a dental shot is due to the feeling of pressure created by the flow of dental anesthetic. Anesthesia administered too fast can also cause pain. A computer controlled injection system called the WAND® can relieve this discomfort by managing the flow and volume of the anesthesia being delivered. The WAND® also doesn't look like a traditional syringe, so the patient's initial apprehension is minimized. As the "Novocaine" is delivered, the development of an anesthetic pathway combined with computer controlled flow assures that there is minimal awareness that the injection is even being given. Dr. Kush can thus concentrate on providing the highest quality dental care to his patients while addressing their concerns about pain, fear and anxiety associated with standard syringe injections.
Intra-oral Camera
Using our high resolution intra-oral camera, our patients can see their teeth magnified 40 times their normal size. Areas of concern are seen easily and clearly to both our patients and Dr. Kush, helping to enhance our patients understanding of their diagnosis and treatment.
Digital X- Rays
Dr. Kush uses digital radiography to obtain a crystal clear picture of internal and external dental structures. Digital images let Dr. Kush see things not visible during an exam, such as cavities between teeth, bone health and level, and tooth nerves and roots. Also, using clinically proven LOGICON® Software, Dr. Kush can computer analyze radiographs for decay and help prevent the misdiagnosis of healthy teeth. Digital X-rays are safer that traditional radiographs. They emit about 90% less radiation and require no harsh developing chemicals. In addition, the images are immediately available for viewing and can be electronically transmitted to insurance companies and specialists.
DIAGNOdent® Laser Cavity Detection
Locating hidden decay before it destroys tooth structure (from the inside out) is a major goal for modern dentistry. Among the newest technologies developed to search for hidden decay is a small instrument called the DIAGNOdent® that scans your teeth with harmless laser light. The widespread use of fluoride supplements in dental materials, toothpastes and drinking water has made tooth surfaces harder and more resistant to decay. However, diagnosing cavities beneath the hard surfaces is more challenging because the disease process can start through tiny defects in the surface enamel and can readily spread into the softer tooth structure beneath. The DIAGNOdent® provides instant feedback on the health of a suspicious tooth as the pen like probe simply glides over it. A number scale and an audible signal indicate when there are signs of decay. This new technology is another step forward in achieving minimally invasive dentistry.
Soft Tissue Diode Laser
Soft tissue diode lasers work by emitting light that is delivered as quick pulses of energy to the treatment area. Lasers are often more accurate than traditional dental treatments and may be applied during numerous dental procedures such as: crown impressions and cementation, cosmetic reshaping of gum tissue, implant recovery, removal of benign lesions, and periodontal therapy. Bacteria at the treatment site are also eliminated because the high-energy beam sterilizes the area being worked on. Damage to surrounding tissue is minimized; wounds heal faster and tissues can be regenerated.
